The Tempest-5

The Tempest

In June 2006, Corcadorca decided to once again bring their inimitable style to bear on Shakespeare by staging an outdoor production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork.

With an elaborate set constructed on the park’s pond, The Tempest was a spectacular and highly atmospheric production, bringing to life the magical and musical world of Prospero’s spirit-inhabited island. The professional cast of eleven was joined by a band of musicians as well as a community cast who performed original choral music by composer Linda Buckley.

Tickets for the show sold out shortly after it opened and over 6,000 saw the production.

Extra cast members included bats, all kinds of flying insects and a family of ducks on the pond who were ducklings during rehearsals and as adolescents flew in and out of the nightly shows.

Sponsored by John F. Supple Ltd.
