Misterman was Corcadorca’s first new production since the end of its two-year old world tour with the multi-award-winning Disco Pigs. This production was invited to the prestigious Traverse theatre as part of the Edinburgh Festival in August 1999.
Enda Walsh played the title character Thomas Magill and every other character in this new one man play. Thomas is the ‘Misterman’ and the self-appointed guardian of Inishfree’s moral welfare. We are all in Thomas’s head, and that safe place is beginning to doubt itself. When all the words have stopped, will Inishfree survive Thomas’s judgment day? Will Thomas survive?
“Superlative, breathtaking…merely brilliant”
The Sunday Times
“proof that neither Walsh nor Corcadorca are one hit wonders”
The Guardian
“An absorbing and dynamic performance”
“modern, uncompromising in-your-face theatre”
“The hottest ticket in town -and indeed abroad- is Misterman. Make sure you see it.”
The Examiner
“Walsh is a quirkily engaging performer, and Misterman’s production values are admirably high: O’Connor’s thorough and imaginative sound design is particularly impressive”
Variety
“A brief and intense roller coaster, a fast paced, darkly comic dose of magic realism”
